School districts are always seeking new funding sources, and increasingly looking to their facilities and property as such sources. Unfortunately, the complex rules of the Education Code are often overlooked, and frequently difficult to apply to a particular situation. Administrators need to know the options when it comes to generating revenue and options for the use of proceeds. This workshop will shed light on the applicable rules, selling or leasing, and options for expenditure of proceeds. Underutilized property and facilities can help provide new revenue to school districts. This workshop will discuss the fundamentals for maximizing revenue from property and facilities, how such funds may be used, and common mistakes and pitfalls to be avoided.
