Event Single

Details

Employees who operate vehicles as part of their job serve a critical role in school districts, but also present the potential for significant liability if they operate a vehicle under the influence of a controlled substance. Preemployment and random drug testing can help to minimize this liability by identifying those employees who may be out of compliance with the law. But, what about employee's who are lawfully prescribed medication that is otherwise a controlled substance and may impact their ability to safely operate a motor vehicle? How does a school district reconcile the employee's medical needs with the duty to keep students safe? This presentation will provide practical tips to ensure that your policies and procedures include necessary safeguards to minimize potential liability to your District.
