Overview

Sarah Smidth is an Associate in Lozano Smith's Walnut Creek Office. Her legal practice is focused primarily on Title IX, investigations, labor and employment, student, Public Records Act, and governance issues.

Experience

Ms. Smidth frequently advises clients on Title IX and Uniform Complaint Procedures compliance and investigations into claims of sexual misconduct and harassment, discrimination, bullying, retaliation, and other issues that may arise in an educational setting. Ms. Smidth also assists clients on various labor and employment issues, including discipline, layoffs, and discrimination complaints. She also advises clients on student-related issues such as protections for Foster Youth and students experiencing housing instability, records, discipline, and constitutional issues.

Ms. Smidth supports administrators and boards with matters concerning conflicts of interest, the Brown Act and the Public Records Act.

Prior to joining Lozano Smith, Ms. Smidth worked for the State of California where she specialized in regulatory enforcement and negotiation.

Education

Ms. Smidth received her Juris Doctor degree from the University of California, Irvine School of Law where she focused on negotiation and conflict resolution. Ms. Smidth graduated cum laude from the University of California, Berkeley, with a Bachelor of Arts.
