2019 ACSA Every Child Counts

Responding to School Violence
Event Single

Details

This workshop will be presented in a panel format, where panelists from law enforcement, education and the legal community will discuss what do you do when a student commits an act of violence at school, or threatens a violent act against students or staff. This workshop will focus on a series of "real-life experience" scenarios involving school violence, or the threat of school violence. By discussing these scenarios in a panel format, attendees will gain an understanding of when and how to involve law enforcement, as well as the how to design and implement a crisis response plan. Special attention will be given to OAH case law regarding aggressive students, so that attendees will have an understanding of the steps to take to respond to school violence in a manner that is legally complaint, and fosters school safety.

This event is reserved for school district or public agency employees only. Please contact Client Services for more information.
