This session will delve into the legal landscape governing colleges, with a primary focus on the California Education Code and the Government Code. Additionally, the session will also address pertinent local, state, and federal regulations, offering insight into legal considerations surrounding labor, employment and discrimination claims. Furthermore, the specific learning objectives are as follows:• Gain proficiency in navigating the Education Code, the California Code of Regulations (including Title 5), and labor law resources.
• Understand the fundamentals of the Field Act and other Department of State Architect regulations.
• Understand the purpose of board policies, administrative procedures, desk manuals, etc.
• Understand the requirements for information technology security and accessibility.
• Understand the differences among laws, regulations and standards.
