Overview
Karina Demirchyan is an Associate in Lozano Smith’s San Luis Obispo office. Her practice is focused on assisting public agency clients in special education and student matters.
Experience
Ms. Demirchyan primarily advises clients on public schools’ obligations under the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act, and frequently drafts settlement agreements, due process complaints, responses to due process complaints, and prior written notices. She also advises clients on various student-related issues such as student search restrictions, student records retention requirements, and access to records limitations.
Education
Ms. Demirchyan earned her Juris Doctor degree from the University of California, Hastings College of the Law with a concentration in Health Law. During law school, she conducted higher education related research as the Academic Dean’s Research Fellow and served as a legal intern at the San Francisco Unified School District, Oakland Unified School District, and the University of California Office of the President. Ms. Demirchyan earned her B.A. in Political Science and Russian Studies from the University of California, San Diego.
