Lozano Smith Shareholder Sloan Simmons Presents For COECWA Statewide Videoconference

On May 6, 2011, the County Offices of Education Child Welfare and Attendance (COECWA) held their eighth annual statewide videoconference, this year focusing upon the impact of cyberbullying on students, parents, and educators. Lozano Smith shareholder and Student Practice Group Co-Chair Sloan Simmons presented for the videoconference on the legal parameters and trends in this area of education law, including best practices for responding to student cyberbullying and other electronic acts in the "E-Discipline" context. Administrators and educators around the State participated in and viewed the COECWA's videoconference via remote locations in Contra Costa County (2 sites), Sonoma County, Ventura County, Los Angeles County, San Diego County, Sierra County, Riverside County, Kern County (2 sites), San Luis Obispo County, Alameda County, Orange County, San Bernardino County (2 sites), and the California Department of Education in Sacramento.
