2023 CSBA Legal Symposium for Experienced Board Members

The California Public Records Act: Understanding the Public's Right to Information From Board Members
Event Single

Details

The California Public Records Act (CPRA) is a vast and complex law providing the public access to local educational agency records and information. In this modern age, much emphasis is placed on access to electronic records, which include emails, texts, messaging and social media communications by board members. Understanding the public’s right to information your LEA may have thought was private, but is considered public under the CPRA, is critical. This presentation will provide an overview of the right to public records, potential exemptions and common pitfalls with real examples provided. The presenters will focus on the role and impact on board members and superintendents with practical tips from the trenches.

This event is reserved for school district or public agency employees only. Please contact Client Services for more information.
