Post-COVID Behaviors: Interim Alternative Educational Settings - When, Why, and How
As we navigate the challenges of a post-COVID learning environment - including increased anxiety, behavior challenges, and more - we have seen an uptick in the need for interim alternative educational setting placements. During this session we'll ask the following questions: when can a child be removed to an alternative setting? Why would an alternative setting be necessary or appropriate? And, how can the District initiate such a change in placement? We'll use case law and real-life examples to determine best practices for navigating these delicate situations, and how to successfully secure an alternative placement.
Alternative Dispute Resolution - Attorney Panel
The term "alternative dispute resolution" or "ADR" is often used to describe a wide variety of dispute resolution mechanisms that are alternative to litigation. But what does that mean in the educational setting? During this session, we'll discuss when alternative dispute resolution may be appropriate and how to initiate conversations with families to achieve more positive outcomes and relationships between the parties.
