Overview

Shawn C. Olsen is Senior Counsel in Lozano Smith’s Fresno office. He advises public agency clients on labor and employment issues, including in the areas of collective bargaining and personnel matters.

Experience

Mr. Olsen has extensive experience in labor relations and federal employment law. He has provided critical guidance on employee grievances, arbitrations, disciplinary matters, and performance issues, ensuring compliance with federal regulations and collective bargaining agreements. He has significant labor law experience, including handling unfair labor practices charges related to grievances and participating in mediation and impasse proceedings related to negotiations. Mr. Olsen previously served as a Senior Labor Relations Specialist for the Internal Revenue Service where he negotiated high profile agreements and worked on national grievances and arbitration cases.

Education

Mr. Olsen earned his Juris Doctor degree from San Joaquin College of Law. Mr. Olsen earned his Bachelors of Arts in History/Korean from Brigham Young University.

Community Involvement

Mr. Olsen is an adjunct lecturer at California State University, Fresno where he teaches in the Management Department of the Craig School of Business. He teaches HR Management with a focus on Labor Relations and Collective Bargaining. Mr. Olsen also teaches public labor law at San Joaquin College of Law.
