Everett J. McLean II is an Associate in Lozano Smith's Walnut Creek Office. He is an active member of the firm's Charter Schools, Student, Litigation, and Labor & Employment Practice Groups.
Mr. McLean frequently assists clients with charter school oversight, Prop. 39 facilities requests, and charter petition reviews. He has also assisted in drafting a successful Motion of Opposition. Mr. McLean has worked with clients when faced with issues related to freedom of speech under the First Amendment, and helps clients comply with the Brown Act and the California Public Records Act.
Mr. McLean earned his Juris Doctor from Washington University School of Law and a Bachelor of Arts in Philosophy from the University of Portland, where he also minored in Political Science.
In law school, Mr. McLean served as the Community Service Chair for the Black Law Student Association and the Director of Administration for the National Bar Association, Law Student Division. Mr. McLean participated in an externship with the Missouri Attorney General's Office, where he handled employment discrimination matters filed with the Missouri Commission on Human Rights and the EEOC. Mr. McLean also interned for the California Attorney General's Office, where he was responsible for drafting respondents' briefs that were filed in the California Court of Appeal.
