This workshop will give newly appointed school managers/administrators an overview of the laws and legal issues they need to know to "hit the ground running." Current and veteran school managers/administrators will receive a refresher course of updated and new laws to keep abreast in an ever-changing legal environment.Key Focus Areas Include:
• Introduction to Sources of Law, Including
• Statutes-Education Code, Public Contract Code, Government Code; Regulations; Case law; Board Policies/Administrative Regulations; Agency Guidelines
•Brown Act and Public Meetings
•Contract Basics (What is a Contract; Essential Terms; Who Signs/Approves)
•How to Identify Potential Conflicts of Interest
• Public Records Act
