The MELT (Major and Essential Legal Topics)
Legal Update: This crowd-favorite examines the most significant court and administrative decisions of the past year. This year's expanded MELT will also highlight recently passed and pending laws and their impact on special education programs.

Writing it Right: IEP Notetaking
IEP notetaking is an essential function of the special education process, although one that is not actually required. As a result, it is an art, not a science. This presentation will address what is, and what is not, required of us when it comes to IEP documentation and notetaking. We will look at what purpose we are trying to serve, and how to effectively meet that purpose with our IEP notes. We will end our discussion with best practices and helpful tips and tricks, which can be implemented immediately, to improve the quality of these important student records.

Don't Get Lost in Translation: Bilingual Translation during the IEP process
This presentation will outlines LEA's obligation to ensure that parents have access to meaningful participation in the special education process. The discussion will include review of communication policies and practices and the implications of failing to provide translation to parents. We will also provide best practices and solutions for addressing the challenges of providing bilingual translation.
