Charter Schools

Since the passage of the Charter Schools Act of 1992, the firm has advised numerous school districts on all aspects of charter school law, from charter granting to charter revocation, and has defended school districts in litigation brought by charter schools.

Local Government

The Local and State Government Practice Group counsels and advises public officials, administrators and employees on the complex and frequently changing laws pertaining to open meeting requirements (the Brown Act), records requests (the Public Records Act), election and political issues, municipal and district reorganizations, ethics and conflicts of interest, and intergovernmental relations. Attorneys in this Practice Group also serve as general and special counsel to the firm’s non-school district public agency clients.
