The 2018 Janus decision broke new ground for public sector labor relations, and unions are proving to unit members that "unions matter" through aggressive negotiating tactics and goals, vigorously defending against disciplinary action, and strict enforcement of contractual rights. To avoid unnecessary labor violations, District administrators should be well-versed in the breadth of union rights both on and off the bargaining table. Likewise, administrators should be reminded of management's rights under the EERA, and the pros and cons associated with exercising them.
