Collective bargaining in the cost-of-living-adjustment-only Local Control Funding Formula and post-Janus decision environment is complex -revenues have slowed but employee demands have increased. Coupled with an increase in one-day walkouts and strikes by unions, and a general lack of collaboration from employee groups, collective bargaining has been set on a new course where the tried-and-true negotiations playbook often falls short. This pre-conference will provide management negotiators with real-time strategies and practical applications to skillfully address the greatest negotiation challenges faced by LEAs.Speakers will include a panel of collective bargaining experts from School Services of California, Inc., and seasoned labor attorneys from across the state who will discuss negotiation strategies, keys to effective communication and the use of social media, constructing and presenting proposals and counter-proposals, and dealing with the "real-life" problems stalling current negotiations.
