Mental Health and Schools
Event Single

Details

Single Workshop Registration
Changes in legislation and community services have placed school districts on the front lines for addressing students' mental health needs. This workshop will provide an overview of legal and practical aspects of addressing mental health needs in schools, and review current trends in the mental health of youth. Additionally, we will discuss the obligations of schools with the following questions: Who should receive mental health services in the school? How long should a "general education student" receive mental health services before child find is triggered? Who can provide mental health services? What are practices that contribute to a successful school-based mental health program?

Please join us as we hear from presenters who share legal and practical viewpoints regarding district responsibilities for addressing the mental health needs of general education and special education students. This "Food for Thought" series offers a unique workshop setting over lunch to collaboratively discuss trends in the area of youth mental health and review recent relevant developments in the legal field.
