CSBA's 2019 Annual Education Conference

Intolerance, Politics and Religion on Campus: Creating an Inclusive Environment Before Controversy Hits
Event Single

Details

Hate speech. Religious expression. Protests. They all have one thing in common: the need to balance legal and community pressures, while ensuring student and staff safety and protecting the rights of all groups. Schools are on the cutting edge of this "Culture War" and are often the subject of lawsuits in which competing rights seek dominance. As a result, board members and school district leaders are seeking innovative, model programs to best prepare for and respond to controversies - all while promoting civil discourse and equity. Legal precedents and real-world examples will shape the conversation. The goal of this workshop is to prevent lawsuits and prepare school districts to manage controversial issues.

This event is reserved for school district or public agency employees only. Please contact Client Services for more information.
