CSBA's 2019 Legal Symposium

Religious Neutrality in an Era of Political Extremes
Event Single

Details

There are an estimated 4,200 different religions in the world, but school districts are supposed to be neutral with respect to religion. Combine that with the polarization stemming from the current political climate - the result? School districts are faced with a careful balancing act but need to address the "culture wars" that is being played out on school district campuses. During this session, the presenters will discuss student and staff free speech and free exercise of religion rights, and how to avoid Establishment Clause issues, with a goal of demonstrating to board member attendees how religion can be used as a tool for inclusivity instead of division.

This event offers 1.5 hrs. MCLE.
