Details This discussion will focus on legal and practical strategies school district administrators and staff members can use to foster positive communication and minimize negative interactions with parents. We will address how to handle a parent’s refusal to attend an IEP meeting with certain staff member’s present, inappropriate or derogatory comments at IEP meetings, disruptive parents on campus, excessive calling or communicating with staff during or outside of school hours, and more. This discussion will include legal options for protecting staff members and safeguarding a positive school environment for all students, while ensuring that parents may still appropriately advocate for their children.
