In Uncharted Territory: Navigating the Newest Legal Issues Impacting Charter Schools and District Authorizers
Event Single

Details

As charters schools have grabbed headlines, school districts have waited for legal decisions that provide more clarity on their roles as district authorizers. In addition, there is never a dull moment in California politics, and the variables that shape our political landscape will have a big effect on education policy, local control and funding provided to public schools. The next election cycle has already begun and will determine the future of California investments in education and tax policy. Join this expert panel as they discuss the landscape for K-12 education within the approaching 2018 election, including the key political issues facing schools in 2018. Included will be an examination of the dichotomy of district oversight and charter independence, as well as a review of the most commonly asked questions. This workshop will also focus on recent issues that recur throughout the year and provide guidance to these relatively new areas of law. Attendees will leave with a better understanding of the political landscape surrounding K-12 education that they can then use when making decisions for their districts. Chief business officials, facilities and maintenance and operations directors, and fiscal services and other management employees are encouraged to attend.

This event is reserved for school district or public agency employees only. Please contact Client Services for more information.
