Developer Fees Webinar Part Two

Developer Fees, Part Two: A Deeper Dive Into the Law and Recent Developments
Event Single

Details

With development on the rise, many school districts are struggling to provide adequate housing for new students generated by development. School districts imposing developer fees to address the impact of new development must be familiar with the legal requirements and procedures for doing so. On September 19, 2017, CASBO and Lozano Smith hosted a webinar that covered the basics regarding the types of developer fees school districts can collect, and the legal requirements applicable to each, as well as common pitfalls, accounting requirements, recent developments, and negotiating mitigation of the impacts of development. Due to the level of interest and the number of questions we received, we are holding a second webinar that will take a deeper dive into some of the areas covered and questions previously raised.

Following a brief recap of the prior webinar as a refresher and for those who missed it, we will focus on exceptions and exemptions from developer fees or special rules applicable to various types of developments, including:
  • Exemptions or special rules applicable to certain types of developments, such as mobilehomes, religious facilities, and senior housing.
  • Navigating issues related to replacement development and developer claims for "credits."
  • Other advanced topics related to collection and use of developer fees.
