Food For Thought 3 - Sacramento

Getting Blunt: Is Medical Marijuana Allowed in Schools?
Event Single

Details

Have you heard ... some school districts have been asked to allow students with IEPs and Section 504 Plans to use variations of medical marijuana before (or even at) school. It's a hazy issue, but it's high time school districts prepare themselves to respond to requests for medical marijuana use at school. Does the Americans with Disabilities Act or Section 504 require schools to accommodate a student's use of medical marijuana? What is required under the IDEA to ensure FAPE is provided to students who submit medical recommendations to use marijuana? Does California's legalization of recreational marijuana for adults have any effect on marijuana use in school? As school districts grapple with this developing area of the law, you can stay informed by attending this workshop.
