Food For Thought 2 - Sacramento

Evidence-Based Best Practice on Inclusion
Event Single

Details

Dr. Kristine Strong, a leading expert on inclusion, behavior and autism, will partner with Lozano Smith, to provide practical advice regarding the most effective trends in inclusion. Many districts are moving toward more inclusive settings, including learning centers and co-teaching models, as public education embraces and unifies the concepts of Common Core and least restrictive environment. The complexity involved in integrating students with disabilities into general education classrooms can make this process seem intimidating or overwhelming to staff, but it doesn't have to be! This workshop will:
  • Explore the legal principles and case law governing inclusive settings
  • Examine successful inclusive practices and strategies
  • Provide specific guidance regarding how to appropriately assess a student for inclusive opportunities
  • Discuss evidence-based best practices for inclusion
Attendees will leave this workshop with a tool kit for inclusion assessment and inclusion strategies.

Please join us as we hear from renowned experts in their fields who share innovative approaches and practical knowledge on a variety of special education topics. This "Food For Thought" series offers a unique workshop setting designed to collaboratively discuss trends with colleagues and hear legal, practical and clinical viewpoints from presenters.
