CSBA Annual Education Conference, San Diego

Religious Neutrality in Schools in an Era of Political and Social Extremes
Event Single

Details

There are an estimated 4,200 different religions in the world. Match that with the seemingly ever-evolving world of legislative enactments and case law. The result? School districts are faced with balancing a respect for individual religious viewpoints, accommodations for those views in some instances, all the while avoiding the perception that they endorse particular religions in violation of state or federal laws. We will cover a wide range of existing and new laws impacting this issue and legal opinions issued by state and federal courts, in the context of real-world trends. Key topics include: prayer at board meetings, religious accommodations of students and employees, legal framework for addressing non-curricular clubs and religion vs. Free Speech vs. Political Stances.

This event is reserved for school district or public agency employees only. Please contact Client Services for more information.
