Section 504/Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) Issues
Event Single

Details

Section 504 and the ADA are a sometimes overlooked area of the law that can be fraught with peril for school districts and administrators. The requirements are ever-changing and sometimes poorly defined, yet districts may face substantial liability--including potential monetary damages--for noncompliance. Matters are further complicated by legislation that greatly expanded the range of students who are now eligible for Section 504 plans. Participants will learn how to avoid the major pitfalls of Section 504 and the ADA, such as required accommodations under Section 504 and the ADA; who qualifies for a Section 504 Plan; student discipline under Section 504; what Section 504 and the ADA do (and don't) require regarding the administration of medication; and the applicability of Section 504 and the ADA to afterschool programs and extracurricular activities.

This event is reserved for school district or public agency employees only. Please contact Client Services for more information.
