DetailsDuring this session we will explore the legal and practical questions raised when special education issues intersect with personnel and labor issues. These complicated intersections require special handling and increased awareness. Issues related to case load requirements, credentialing, employee discipline, employee assignments, job descriptions, and IEP compliance are challenging, particularly with the added responsibility of staying student focused. These matters are frequently handled by both special education and human resources staff who may be experienced in one area, but require assistance and guidance in the other. We will discuss how to spot the pot holes and speed bumps and navigate potential road blocks to minimize liability on either or both the special education or personnel fronts.
